A voice for family farms

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

One of the first people we contacted after opening Rockhill Creamery in 2005 was Steven Rosenberg of Liberty Heights Fresh in Salt Lake City. We took him samples of the very first batch of cheese we ever made and invited him to come visit our creamery. He took us up on the offer and his enthusiasm for our cheese and our business gave us hope that maybe this crazy idea we had would really work. He has continued to be a solid supporter and we have been the happy recipients of his mentoring.
That’s why we were delighted to hear that Steven and the rest of the crew at Liberty Heights Fresh were recently honored with the 2007 Outstanding Specialty Food Retailer award. The honor is given annually by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade to only six retailers in North America. Steven and some of his staff received the award at the Summer Fancy Food show in New York City.
Steven was also recognized last year by Salt Lake Magazine as Utah’s “food evangelist.” So true. Steven is an eloquent voice for small family farms and artisanal producers of traditional foods. Our congratulations! –jh
