Time to Quit Watering?

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I decided that, since we still had water to our upper pasture, I’d give the whole thing one last soaking. I use three different sets to get across the whole pasture, and last night I started on the last one. This morning I went out to find quite a scene. I guess it’s time to put the pipe away for the season. -PS

This is one way to measure how much water I put on.

Elsie was wondering what I was thinking.

Even the mallow looks pretty.

Cheese in the Cave

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Finally, after 13 months, 19 days and 3 hours, we moved the cheese into the new aging room. My friend Tod and I moved it all over on Saturday. It took us about 4 hours, but went off without a hitch … or any dropped cheese! Now, over the next couple of weeks, we will finish the stair well that ties the old and the new rooms together. And just in time for the holiday rush. Saturday was the perfect day to make the move, temperatures were mild and we had clear skies. It was also the last day our farmstand was open for the season. So we had a few visitors catch us wandering around in our aprons and hair nets. We’re planning on having the farmstand open for special-order pickups for the holidays a few times in November and December, so please check back for details on that. Below is a view through the observation window into the new cave. – PS
