It’s a Girl!

Inez had her first calf Tuesday morning ... a very healthy heifer!

Inez gave birth to a beautiful heifer calf about 10 days earlier than expected. The weather was perfect and we had been bringing her in to the milking parlor for about a week — this is her first calf, so she is a milk cow in-training. We have decided to name the little girl Ida. Her great-grandmother is our oldest cow Ingrid. Her grandmother is Iggy. So you can see our naming system around here … it does help us remember the lineage of our “girls.” Inez has been milked four times as of this morning and is coming along nicely—kicking some, but not as bad as a few cows whose names start with “E”! —PS
